Kerala’s new luxury boat service The Kerala State Water Transport Department (SWTD) has launched a new luxury boat service. This venture is aimed at showcasing the natural beauty of the interior regions of Kuttanad to both foreign and domestic travellers and to give them an authentic experience of the coir villages, paddy fields, and backwaters of Kerala. Tourists can now experience Kerala in a whole new way by travelling through its backwaters in style. The service will follow a major route in Kerala’s backwaters transporting guests from Alleppey and Kollam. The double-decker boats have all the modern facilities and are able to seat up to 80 passengers with 20 seats on the upper deck. The services will start from Alappuzha and Kollam jettys simultaneously at 10:30 AM every day, passing various places of historical importance like Karumadikuttan (Buddha statue) and Kumarakodi, the resting place of Malayalam poet Kumaranasan at Pallana.
