Fun in Sabah

Sabah boasts tropical islands, white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, beautiful coral reefs, native cultures

Tiga Island, located 10 kilometers offshore on the west coast of Sabah in Borneo, rose to fame because the CBS reality show “Survivor I,” conducted and filmed there in 2000. Today it is also commonly known as Survivor Island.

Besides that island, Sabah also boasts many popular tropical island vacations, endless stretches of white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, beautiful coral reefs, flora and fauna, indigenous cultures, as well as a variety of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds.

Snorkeling, diving, swimming


For sports enthusiasts, the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park is an ideal place for snorkeling, diving and swimming. They can access to crystal clear waters in the park – just a ten-minute boat ride away from KK City.

For snorkeling and diving, go to Manukan and Sapi islands. Water skiers may find the seas of Mamutik, Manukan and Sapi excellent because of their gentle waves.

Besides snorkeling, diving, swimming and water-skiing, these islands also offer a variety of water activities including parasailing, banana boat, jet skiing, scuba-dooing and sea walking.

White-water rafting

White-water rafting can be classified from grade 1 to 6 in terms of rapids. Graded between the level 1 and 2, the Kiulu River white-water rafting is a moderate adventure suitable for children, the elderly, beginners and non-swimmers.

Located in Kampung Pukak Kiulu, the river is about a 1-hour drive from KK City.

Mountain climbing

Thousands of travelers from different countries visit Sabah to climb the world-renowned Mount Kinabalu and to enjoy breathtaking scenery from its peak.

Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, stands at 4,093 meters. A big attraction of the mountain is the rafflesia – the world’s largest flower that blossoms between September and December.

Wildlife
Besides the Klias River, the Kinabatangan River, the Sabah’s longest river located in the Sukau area, is also famed for its wildlife including the proboscis monkeys, kingfishers and hornbills.
